I was 18 and playing blues guitar in South Texan clubs I wasn’t old enough to get into when my bass player told me he was moving to New York. I saw an opportunity. At that time I was being pressured by my parents to go to college. After some encouragement from my high school art teacher, I put together a portfolio and was accepted to the School of Visual Arts. I was ready to pursue by dream: become a blues man.

One day, my professor shared some award show books. That’s when my affair with advertising started. I loved the undeniable truths in the work. The brilliance. The Simplicity. The Power. I loved ideas just like I loved music. The ad with MLK Jr. next to Charlie Manson that read ‘The man on the left is 75 times more likely to be stopped by the police while driving than the man on the right” made me feel like I was watching Jimi Hendrix light his guitar on fire for the first time. I was drawn to the flame. Soon, I would be studying guerilla advertising and drooling over the work of legendary agencies like Goodby and Leo Burnett. It all excited me. Before I knew it, I was working on Madison Ave.

Today, I’m a Senior Copywriter who’s passionate about giving brands a voice. Because I’ve worked in both agencies and in-house, I operate like a creative Swiss Army Knife. Creating work that works across social, digital, video and print is my specialty. I am a product of the power of words and I like to make stuff that makes a difference.
